Pope Francis has re-energized Catholics across the world, many of whom are taking newfound pride in their faith and Pope Francis.

Less than 24 hours after Pope Francis stepped onto the Vatican’s balcony for the first time last March, online sales of papal merchandise skyrocketed. Today, from Rome to Iowa, there remains a steady demand for a wide variety of items ranging from pope cologne to key chains to stickers and more.
“The Pope’s popularity continues to grow, which has been very positive for online sales of papal merchandise in particular,” said Mark Gould, owner of Religious Supply Center in Davenport, Iowa, which has provided church supplies and religious gifts for more than 60 years.
The most recent Google statistics show approximately 450,000 global searches per month for Pope Francis.
Top sellers on ReligiousSupply.com, Gould’s e-commerce site, include an 8x10 framed photo of the Pope with two-layer matting and a signature box. Prayer cards, which feature an image of the Pope on one side and a prayer on the other have also proven popular.
With more than 1.2 billion Roman Catholics worldwide – 77 million of them in the United States alone – there is a vast market for Christian retailers to tap into, Gould said, “Pope Francis has re-energized Catholics across the world, many of whom are taking newfound pride in their faith and Pope Francis.”
Gould says he will continue to add a variety of new Pope Francis merchandise and related Catholic Church supplies to his online store in the months ahead.
