The Reliv Kalogris Foundation raised approximately $980,000 in 2008, R. Scott Montgomery, chairman of the Reliv Foundation, announced today. The Foundation used the funds to supply free nutritional supplements every day to more than 42,000 impoverished people, mostly children, in 10 countries.
"We are moved by the generosity of our distributors' and employees' donations to the Reliv Foundation, but considering the economic circumstances in 2008, we were particularly touched," Montgomery said. "Their generosity has a lasting impact on the thousands of disadvantaged children and adults who receive the nutritional supplements every day."
In addition to supplying free nutritional supplements to people in need, the Foundation sponsors an annual Walk for the Mission, which raises funds to provide additional support for our programs.
Last year, for example, the Walk for the Mission donations enabled the Reliv Foundation to fund the construction of combination feeding centers and schools in Cavite City, Philippines, and Liberale, Haiti. "The Foundation expects to open another feeding center in the Philippines in 2009," Montgomery said.
The Foundation is named for the late Dr. Theodore "Ted" Kalogris, who created the nutritional formula that would become Reliv Classic, the company's original product.
Since its founding in 1995, the Reliv Foundation shipped nutritional products with a retail value in excess of $17 million to impoverished people in more than a dozen countries. It currently supplies free supplements to more than 270 feeding programs in 10 countries.
