"I am happy to join Bob Huggins in honoring the West Virginia coal miners and their families who play such a vital role in the history and the future of our state’s natural resource," stated Jerry West.

Remember The Miners is proud to announce the 2nd Annual Friends of Coal Bob Huggins Fish Fry presented by Little General Stores to be held Friday, August 31, 2012 at the Morgantown Event Center with special guest Jerry West.

Kicking off Friends of Coal Bowl weekend, the Bob Huggins Fish Fry, in its second year, is a fundraising celebration of West Virginia’s Inaugural Big XII season. The event benefits the legendary Huggins’ two designated charities, Remember The Miners and the Norma Mae Huggins Cancer Research Endowment Fund at the Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center. The Inaugural Bob Huggins Fish Fry in 2011 attracted nearly 1,000 guests, NFL wide receiver Randy Moss, and garnered coverage on ESPN.

Mountaineer and NBA legend Jerry West will join Huggins’ as the event’s special guest.

"I am happy to join Bob Huggins in honoring the West Virginia coal miners and their families who play such a vital role in the history and the future of our state’s natural resource,” stated Jerry West. “Remember the Miners along with the Norma Mae Huggins Cancer Research Endowment Fund bring heightened awareness to both great causes."

“I’m honored to have Jerry West join us at our second Fish Fry. I think it’s a great way to kick off the Friends of Coal Bowl weekend," said Huggins. “We look forward to continuing our work of telling the story of West Virginia’s coal industry and to raise money for cancer research – two causes important to me and the people of West Virginia.”

The Norma Mae Huggins Cancer Research Fund at WVU’s Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center was created by the Huggins family to raise money for cancer research in memory of Huggins’ late mother, Norma Mae.

“We’re excited to be a part of this event for a second year, to help continue its growth as one of West Virginia’s largest philanthropic events,” began Jason Parsons, President of Remember The Miners. “The support of Coach Huggins allows us to grow our efforts like the Scholars Program and awareness events that tell the story of the coal miner. We are also grateful to Little General Stores, the Friends of Coal, and all of our sponsors who make it happen.
