Guests of the Renaissance Long Beach Hotel will get to soak up more than just the California sun when local artists and musicians converge on the downtown property for a Day of Discovery.

The downtown Long Beach, CA, hotel has partnered with the city’s Arts Council and Long Beach Open Studio Tour to host the special event that celebrates and promotes local talent. Framed art, sculptures and photography projected onto the walls of Sip Lounge will transform the hotel into a center of culture for guests and visitors. Artists will be on hand throughout the evening to discuss their works and satisfy the curiosity of onlookers.

Several food and beverage stations will be set up in the Long Beach hotel’s lobby so discoverers can feed their need for nourishment as well as elegance. Renaissance Chef of the Year Michael Poompan is expected to create culinary masterpieces with produce from the hotel’s garden, while TY KU Spirits will feature a cocktail workshop and tasting. Guests also will be able to sample beer from local craft brewery Hangar 24 and coffee from Long Beach-based artisan coffee roaster Rose Park Roasters.

The event, planned from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. June 19, 2013, will culminate in two live musical performances by the Jenn Bostic Trio. Bostic will sing and play keyboard with Clint Feddersen on bass guitar and Barrett Yeretsian on percussion.

Guests staying at the hotel in Long Beach, California, as well as any visitors to the city, can partake in the free festivities. The Day of Discovery is an initiative taking place at 114 Renaissance hotels in 18 countries on five continents to provoke discovery and bring people together with the goal of showcasing local talent.

The lounge’s outdoor patio allows those who love the outdoors to pull up a seat by a cozy fire pit and enjoy casual conversation daily and a live DJ on Friday nights.
