The Reproductive Science Center of New England has been awarded “Center of Excellence” status by OptumHealth. According to OptumHealth (OH), “Not all health care providers are created equal. For complex medical conditions, the disparity is especially high. Through a rigorous evaluation process, OptumHealth has developed Centers of Excellence networks that provide access to clinically superior, cost effective health care.”
OptumHealth has been identifying health care providers experienced in treating costly, complex and catastrophic medical conditions for over 20 years. Each year OH conducts a rigorous evaluation process of medical centers throughout the country. Only the most experienced and statistically successful health care providers are invited to be evaluated for inclusion in the Centers of Excellence networks.
OptumHealth applies a stringent evaluation process with different criteria for each specialty condition, which includes infertility, bariatric surgery, cancer care, congenital heart disease, and organ transplantation.
According to OH, “ By choosing an OptumHealth Center of Excellence, a patient is more likely to receive:
- More accurate diagnoses
- Higher survival rates
- Health care that is planned, coordinated and provided by a team of experts who specialize in a patient's specific condition and regularly work together
- Appropriate therapy (neither too much nor too little)
- Fewer complications
- Shorter length of stay
- Decreased out-of-pocket costs
"We are honored to be recognized as a Center of Excellence," says Samuel Pang, MD, Medical Director at RSC New England. "Approaching our 25th year of providing diagnostic testing, evaluation, consultation and treatment for infertility, it is gratifying to be recognized for our medical and technological expertise as well as our unwavering commitment to providing superior patient care."
Cost effective fertility care is one of the criteria for the Centers of Excellence award. RSC New England, which in addition to its Massachusetts fertility clinics includes Reproductive Science Center New Hampshire and Reproductive Science Center Rhode Island, has been a pioneer in offering patient-centered price plans for the most complex (and costly) fertility treatments such as in vitro fertilization (IVF).
A partner member of Attain Fertility Centers, a national network of over 40 fertility centers, RSC New England is the exclusive provider in New England of the Attain IVF Refund, Multi-Cycle Discount, and Donor Egg Programs. These programs are proven, course-of-treatment plans that provide fertility patients multiple IVF cycles for a single, discounted fee and are about 30% to 40% less than the same treatment plan when paid on a cycle-by-cycle basis.
"Our patient-centered price plans are particularly helpful for our New Hampshire patients," explains Dr. Pang. "That state does not require health insurance providers to cover infertility treatment. Rhode Island patients also benefit since that state's mandate for coverage is limited."
Founded in 1988, the Reproductive Science Center of New England is among the top 10 fertility treatment centers in the united States.
