It's no secret that Senator Pete Domenici is a nationally recognized advocate for people suffering from mental illness, brain injury, and brain diseases. In fact, his vision to address these issues has led to landmark breakthroughs in the understanding, diagnosis, and treatment, from both the public policy and research perspectives.

I believe in the work that (MRN) does, and know that it is contributing to our understanding of mental illness and brain function.

As part of his vision to encourage and increase the awareness of these issues, Senator Domenici was determined to establish a research network dedicated to advancing neuroimaging technologies to improve the diagnosis and treatment of these devastating diseases and illnesses that impact every aspect of our society.

Since its creation in 1998, The Mind Research Network (MRN), located in Albuquerque, N.M., has been helping fulfill the Senator's vision. Dedicated to helping people by improving the diagnosis of mental illnesses, brain disorders, and brain injuries, MRN is a true partnership effort between universities, national laboratories, and research centers throughout the country and New Mexico.

According to the Senator, "Cutting-edge research is critical to obtaining a better understanding of the workings of the brain." He continues, "I believe in the work that (MRN) does, and know that it is contributing to our understanding of mental illness and brain function."

John Rasure, Ph.D., President and CEO of MRN, commented, "MRN is proud to be part of Senator Domenici's vision to positively impact the quality of life of those who suffer from brain disease, brain injury, and mental illness. Our research is paving the way to the discovery of new tools and technologies that can help to better diagnose mental illness and brain disease."

Senator Domenici and his dedication to public service are unquestionable. The benefit of his efforts will continue indefinitely because of his foresight and determination to take a proactive approach to discover treatments and cures for mental illness and brain disease.
