By renewing our partnership, American Solar continues its commitment of expanding affordable residential solar power throughout Arizona.

Residential solar power contractor, American Solar, announces the continuance of its partnership with a national solar power service provider will continue into the foreseeable future. Having worked together for the past two years, the companies remain committed to making solar electricity more affordable for Arizona homeowners.

The partnership developed a creative solution in which American Solar installs solar photovoltaic generating systems on homes, while the solar power service provider functions as the energy provider and offers customers two payment options.

The low-upfront option requires the lowest upfront cost and delivers the highest annual rate of return. The company targets this solution to homeowners who want solar electricity but may not have the available funds to purchase a system.

The pre-paid option is for homeowners who can pay more upfront in return for the lowest solar electricity rate available. These homeowners may have previously considered a solar system purchase. However, they may not want to perform ongoing maintenance or they might not qualify for federal tax credits.

“By renewing our partnership, American Solar continues its commitment of expanding affordable residential solar power throughout Arizona,” said Sean Seitz, president of American Solar. “Our combined solutions allow us to reach a broader market of homeowners who want solar but are unable to make the initial cash outlays. Our expert installation of high quality photovoltaic systems coupled with their comprehensive provider services create a solar solution that’s hard to beat.”

According to the California Energy Commission and California Public Utilities Commission, the use of third-party owned solar versus cash purchases is expanding at a significant rate. In 2007, only 6.7% of total solar installations in California were third-party owned. However, that number jumped to 32.3% in 2010. By the second quarter of 2011, the total solar market of third-party owned solar grew to 48%.

With more than 50% of the nation’s solar market, California’s growth trends in third-party owned solar can be extrapolated to other heavy solar use states such as Arizona.
