NASCAR returns to Dover's "Monster Mile" with Sprint, Nationwide and Camping World Series races September 19-21

Dover International Speedway's Monster Mile hosts the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Dover 400, as well as the Nationwide Series 200 and the Camping World Series Sunoco 150 events, September 19-21, 2008.

The second race in "The Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup" headlines this fall's race weekend at the one-mile concrete oval, which has thrilled race fans, up to 140,000 per event, to exciting racing from the sport's biggest names for 40 years. In late May and early June, Kyle Busch won the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series' Best Buy 400, benefiting Student Clubs for Autism Speaks; Denny Hamlin captured the checkered flag in the NASCAR Nationwide Series Heluva Good! 200; and Scott Speed bested the rest in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series AAA Insurance 200.

Last year's winners September race winners were Carl Edwards, NEXTEL Cup Series Dodge Dealers 400; Denny Hamlin, Busch Series 200; and Mark Martin, Craftsman Truck Series' AAA Insurance 200.

At 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 20, the plaque at the Monster Monument honoring "The King" Richard Petty, a seven-time winner at Dover International Speedway, will be dedicated, followed by other events commemorating the track's 40th anniversary.
