Montclair Bistro Presents Its 70th Wine Dinner

Montclair Bistro and Garden Room is excited to present its 70th Wine Dinner with Chef Henry Vortriede. Featuring Acacia Vineyard wines, the wine dinner will take place on April 29 at 6 p.m. and Dominic D’Ambrosio will also be a guest speaker.

Beginning with hors d’ oeuvres, the dinner menu features four courses expertly paired with a wine that complements Chef Vortriede’s creations. The first course, a wild salmon and scallop soufflé with chardonnay crème, is paired with an Acacia Chardonnay, Carneros 2011. This Chardonnay is infused with citrus flavors and notes of apple and pear, a perfect addition to seafood.

The second course, a pastry encrusted roasted tenderloin of beef with fresh tarragon béarnaise, is paired with Acacia’s Pinot Noir, Carneros 2011. A traditional partner with beef dishes, Acacia’s Pinot Noir has berry notes and bright acidity.

Course three is baby wild arugula and frisée, candied orange peel, imported cambozola and toasted pecans, paired with an A by Acacia Red Blend, California, 2009. The wine’s fruity aromas of strawberry and plum and spice notes pair well with the arugula and smooth cambozola cheese.

The dinner culminates with a meyer lemon and meringue torte glace paired with a La Fleur d’Or, Sauternes, France 2010. La Fleur d’Or is a sweet wine with peach and plum flavors and notes of honey, caramel and toast, an excellent accent to the dessert.

Dinner is $75 per person and reservations can be made by calling (510)482-8282. Montclair Bistro strives to use sustainable ingredients whenever possible and allergy substitutions are available.
