"The same process with slightly different components can be used to turn seawater into good quality drinking water.” - Michael Colburn

Dime Water Inc. developed a Reverse Osmosis Science Kit for schools in California. The kit, used up to K12 teaching projects, shows what reverse osmosis is, how it works and how it treats water with no chemicals involved.
The kit itself contains a complete reverse osmosis water treatment unit. Students will be able to use the instruction sheet, which are provided along with the kit, to operate and document the reverse osmosis unit.
“This is a small unit that we recently built to demonstrate how a reverse osmosis unit performs. This unit is quite small; it would purify about 100 gallons of water a day and this type of unit is designed to perform on municipal waters or many well water applications. The same process with slightly different components can be used to turn seawater into good quality drinking water.” - Michael Colburn, chief engineer and vice president of Dime Water Inc.
Students will be able to run water through the RO unit and test faucet water, filtered and bottled water through various experiments. They will be able check the quality of the water going into the unit and the quality of the water coming out of the unit with a TDS meter provided by Dime Water Inc.
Dime Water Inc. recommends students to use tap water when running the kit. The reverse osmosis kit takes out or significantly reduces nitrates, sulfates, fluoride, arsenic, sodium and chlorine along with bacteria, viruses and cysts.
