Our programs vary greatly in terms of length, price, intensity, and student requirements. We need one system that recognizes that the needs of continuing education can be different from those of the traditional university
Boston, MA (Vocus) June 4, 2010
Jenzabar®, Inc., a leading provider of software, services and strategies for higher education, announced today that the Susanne M. Glasscock School of Continuing Studies at Rice University has selected Higher Reach by Jenzabar to consolidate registration systems and meet the specific needs of its continuing education programs.
Prior to selecting Higher Reach, Rice University was using separate systems for online registrations and all other registrations. The two systems did not integrate with one another, taking up a great deal of staff time and making it difficult to update information across programs. Once implemented, Higher Reach will enable the university to consolidate registration systems and provide the tools needed for a stronger analysis of its continuing education programs.
“Our programs vary greatly in terms of length, price, intensity, and student requirements. We need one system that recognizes that the needs of continuing education can be different from those of the traditional university,” said Rhonda Bethea, Network Manager at the Susanne M. Glasscock School of Continuing Studies at Rice University. “The Higher Reach system is flexible enough to manage all of our various scenarios, such as handling a simple four-week lecture series as well as a nine-month certificate program.”
Higher Reach by Jenzabar will allow Rice University to keep all course data and registrations in one place, increasing back-office efficiency and decreasing duplication of effort. At any given time, staff will be able to view which courses are doing well and which need further marketing efforts. Also, students will be able to update their personal information and see their course history, allowing staff to devote their time elsewhere.
Ms. Bethea added, “We look forward to a long relationship with Jenzabar because we know that anything we need to make our program better can be integrated into the Higher Reach solution.”
The Susanne M. Glasscock School of Continuing Studies at Rice University, the leading university continuing education program in Houston, is currently working towards implementing Higher Reach. The Glasscock School offers timely educational programs for the general public, including a wide range of non-credit courses and certificate programs in personal development, foreign languages, professional development and teacher professional development.
“Higher Reach by Jenzabar will provide Rice University with the capability to measure course performance and allow them to make continuous improvements to their continuing education programs,” said Chris Hartigan, Vice President of New Business Development at Jenzabar. “We understand that a tailored implementation is important to our clients, and we will continue to work with Rice to ensure a successful outcome.”
