Now in their 15th year, the Riding the Crest awards are presented annually as Programmer’s recognizes leading selling products from its exclusive "World View" software ecosystems for Application Lifecycle Management, Virtualization, Security, Database Infrastructure, Networking, and Business Productivity. The overall Riding the Crest winner for best-selling software product in 2010 was the CA ERwin Modeling Suite.

In addition to being named Software Product of 2010, CA ERwin Modeling Suite was the overall winner in the Database Infrastructure World View. Other overall World View winners were Microsoft Visual Studio for Application Lifecycle Management (ALM), Sophos Endpoint Security & Control for Security, CA ARCserve Backup for Network and Infrastructure, VMware vSphere® for Virtualization World View, and Adobe Creative Suite for Business Productivity.

CA ARCserve Backup was the leading Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery product.
In addition to the Overall Virtualization World View Award for VMware vSphere 4, VMware won multiple Riding the Crest category awards for Virtualization, including VMware vSphere for Virtualization Platform, VMware vCenter ™ Server for Virtualization: Performance Monitoring & Management, VMware View™ for Virtualization: Server & Workstation Administration, and VMware Workstation for Virtualization: Software Development & Test.
