RiseSmart, the leader in next-generation outplacement solutions, continues to strengthen its executive sales team with the addition of Laurie Martin as regional vice president of sales for the U.S. western region.
Formerly a vice president of business development for Lee Hecht Harrison, Martin is the latest experienced sales executive from a legacy outplacement firm to join RiseSmart. She has extensive experience in developing business relationships and generating revenue across multiple industry verticals. Most recently, Martin came to RiseSmart from Social Business software leader Jive where she grew their customer advocacy program by an impressive 75 percent.
“With more than 16 years of combined sales, business development and customer engagement expertise, Laurie represents another valuable addition to our sales team as we continue to implement our growth plans for RiseSmart,” said Kim Johnson, vice president of sales at RiseSmart. “Her vast knowledge and experience in the industry, coupled with her enthusiasm for RiseSmart’s innovative business model bodes well for the company.”
RiseSmart’ approach differs radically from those of traditional outplacement solutions, skipping the offers of office space and career workshops for transitioning workers. RiseSmart’s flagship outplacement solution, Transition Concierge, blends unlimited career coaching with a job matching technology that matches jobseekers with open positions connected to their network. Using a cloud-based technology platform, RiseSmart currently places individuals in new positions 59 percent faster than the national average and 20 percent faster than traditional firms.
“What attracted me to RiseSmart was how they’ve embraced technological innovation. The company takes the best of traditional outplacement and blends it with social media and online tools to help transitioning employees land jobs connected through their network,” Martin said. “This is a game-changer in the outplacement industry, and I’m excited to join some of my former colleagues and other top executives from the industry at RiseSmart. I think that together we will continue to pave the way in career transition services.”
Martin began her career at Berlitz, the premier language and cross-cultural training organization with more than 400 offices in 70 countries, and in just one year she became the youngest director in the company’s history. While working as national sales manager for London-based Richmond Events, Inc., which offers unique C-level and HR industry forums, Martin was part of the team that launched the concept in U.S. and later led U.S. business development across six vertical markets.
In 2005 Martin began building CEO groups in the San Francisco Bay area, which led to the 2007 inception of The Chief Executive Council, a private organization comprised of CEOs from both public and private enterprises who confidentially meet throughout the year to gain insight to the broader business world as well as leading and evolving business practices. Since 2005 Martin has met with more than 500 CEOs and is considered a trusted advisor who is accomplished at building lasting relationships.
