"This issue is all about the children and the world they will inherit."

Florida based musical duo Robin And The Giant have released a new song titled “We’ve Got Balls” to draw attention to the need for a concerted effort of those involved in the energy industry to develop cleaner and safer fuel alternatives while the world’s largest oil spill disaster continues to spread throughout the Gulf of Mexico.
The duo, comprised of Robin MacBlane and Larry Whitler, are usually more associated with gentle folk songs for children and families than they are with songs that make social commentary. Whitler insists, however, “this issue is all about the children and the world they will inherit so it makes sense for us to express our thoughts on this issue in the best way we know how – through our music.”
MacBlane agrees, adding, “Robin And The Giant have always made it a priority to stand up for the children. In fact, we released a song in 1989 titled ‘Stand Up For The Children’ which was entered into the U.S. Congressional Record on October 4, 1989 by U.S. Congressman Clifford B. Stearns (Republican from Florida).” MacBlane continues by adding, “We’d be hypocrites if we didn’t respond to the Deepwater Horizon tragedy because in ‘Stand Up For The Children’ we say all children have a right to ‘a free world, a safe world, and a clean world’.”
“We’ve Got Balls” states, “Where there's a will there's a way, where there's an oil well there's a better way” and concludes the first verse stating that, “There's a bill to be paid and from the looks of it I'm afraid it's going to be paid by our children and their children and their children.” (Lyrical content used with permission)
The song never actually calls for an end to the use of crude oil but clearly takes the position that it is time to develop alternative energy sources that co-exist with nature in a more compatible way than oil based fuels have. The issue at hand on the Gulf coast beaches is addressed in the opening lines of the chorus which states, “We've got balls on the beach made of tar.”
Robin And The Giant drive home the most important point in the song when they sing, “We've got choices, alternatives for our cars,” and then asks, “So what are we waitin' for? We've done greater things before. It's a David and Goliath kind of call.”
