There is an endless array of inspiration in life,” says Thicke. “When that lightning bolt hits your body you have to harness it.

Yamaha caught up with sultry R&B superstar Robin Thicke recently at the legendary Milk Studios in NYC to talk songwriting and musical inspiration.

“There is an endless array of inspiration in life,” says Thicke. “When that lightning bolt hits your body you have to harness it.”

Hailing from Los Angeles, Thicke taught himself to play the piano at the age of 12 and by 16 was writing songs for the some of the world’s hottest artists. During the past decade he's evolved from songwriter-to-the stars into a platinum-selling solo artist.

His latest video “All Tied Up” is soulfully seductive and will definitely send a jolt of electricity through the bodies of his female fans. The song comes off his fifth album, 2012's Love After War, which hit the R&B Top Ten. Recently he embarked on a completely different project: appearing as a judge on the ABC reality television show Duets, which also features fellow vocal superstars Jennifer Nettles, John Legend, and Kelly Clarkson, among others.
