Rochelle will play a strong role in the 2010 Vintage Finger Lakes Riesling Launch, September 19 - 24, 2011.

Having grown up in Syracuse and spent much time in the Finger Lakes, Rochelle is both eager and honored to be representing the wine and food of this bountiful region. "The food of the Finger Lakes is exciting, unique, and evocative of the terroir,” commented Rochelle. “Just like the perfectly-balanced wines. It's a match made in heaven."

Rochelle is a classically-trained chef with a communications degree from Le Moyne College and a grand diplome from the French Culinary Institute. She got her start in the food and wine world working as a catering chef in the famed Time Warner Center, and a cook in the New York Times and Michelin-starred restaurant Aldea, owned by Top Chef Masters competitor George Mendes. She prides herself on having cooked for (and survived!) the likes of Harold Dieterle, the winner of Top Chef’s Season One and Jeffrey Steingarten, Iron Chef’s most charming judge.

After sharpening her skills in Manhattan, Rochelle returned home to Syracuse, where she writes and video-blogs about all things culinary for the city’s largest daily, The Post-Standard, as a food columnist and on her personal website, http://www.RochelleBilow.com. You can follow Rochelle on Twitter at @RochelleBilow.

Rochelle will begin her role as Finger Lakes Wine & Food Ambassador on September 1, 2011 with a live introduction and 2010 Riesling tasting at 12:00 p.m. ET on her Ustream channel: http://www.ustream.tv/user/RochelleBilow.

Rochelle will play a key role in the upcoming Finger Lakes 2010 Vintage Riesling Launch, September 19 – 24, 2011. Finger Lakes Wine Country and Finger Lakes Wine Alliance have collaborated to host this weeklong celebration that will include special events like Riesling Hou r, the world’s largest virtual Finger Lakes Riesling tasting and a Finger Lakes Riesling presence at exciting harvest events in the Northeast.

“Finger Lakes Rieslings to me are perfection and versatility,” Rochelle boasted. “I think the wines go well with everything and I’ve never met someone who doesn’t love them.” Rochelle will be present at a variety of 2010 Vintage Riesling tastings as well as hosting educational videos that will be released throughout September.

“Rochelle’s person style and affinity for Finger Lakes wines and foods make her a perfect ambassador for the Finger Lakes,” commented Morgen McLaughlin, president of Finger Lakes Wine Country. “We look forward to sharing her enthusiasm for the region with consumers all around the country.”
