"We’re very lucky to have such a wonderfully strong and loyal fan base and are excited to keep growing it with every show.”

MKNY's San Francisco Battle of the Bands was held on June 11 at Café Cocomo, with BlowUpDollz, the "women warriors of music," emerging victorious.
BlowUpDollz are an all girl rock band out of Palo Alto, CA. The four piece group consists of Fisty Pyxx (guitar/vocals), Taxi Teaze (bass/backup vocals), Razz Taztic (electric violin, vocals), and Heddy Vodd (drums).
"We're so excited to have won the SF Battle of the Bands," says Fisty Pyxx. "Our musical technicality is the best it's ever been and meanwhile we continue to wow crowds with our stage performance and energy."
When BlowUpDollz' turn came to play, the crowd immediately swarmed the stage and the main floor became packed. Even vendors that were selling merchandise outside came in for their set as they rocked out - hair flying, dropping into splits and backbends.
Bassist Taxi Teaze says, "We've finally shown that girls really can rock and we rock hard. People are ready for a new girl band. San Francisco has spoken, and that girl band is us. Get ready, America. Here we come!"
Out to redefine the "girl band" image, the BlowUpDollz quickly dispel the myth that girls can't play their instruments. Drawing inspiration from classic rock artists, such as Joan Jett, the addition of an electric violin catapults their style into an uncharted genre they like to call "Tit Rock."
With an established presence in the San Francisco music scene, BlowUpDollz have performed at the Whisky A Go Go in Hollywood, the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco, and Crash Mansion and Arlene's Grocery in New York City.
Megan Knowles, who attended the performance, says, "The BlowUpDollz rocked harder than anyone else. They had awesome stage presence and kept the crowd entertained throughout their entire set. I can't wait to watch them play again!"
Recently, the band headlined at the 2010 Left Coast Live Festival. Upcoming appearances include Kaboom Magazine's Fourth of July Weekend Explosion in Malibu, California on July 4th, 2010, and the Xclamation Festival in Modesto this summer.
For its winning performance, the band received $500, a feature on Noisy Planet, and studio time with drummer James Levi. Levi has performed and recorded with rock greats that include Stevie Wonder, James Brown and Herbie Hancock.
Fisty says, "We're very lucky to have such a wonderfully strong and loyal fan base and are excited to keep growing it with every show."
