Rock/Creek StumpJump 50k Welcomes Nearly 1,000 Runners from Across the Nation This Friday and Saturday

Chattanooga-based specialty outdoor retailer Rock/Creek hosts its largest event of the year this weekend, with trail runners coming in from across the country- and Canada- to run the challenging Rock/Creek StumpJump 50k and 11 miler.

We're excited to see competitors from all over the country as well as our friends from the outdoor industry traveling to Chattanooga for this run.

964 trail runners from 32 states as well as 7 from Canada have signed up to travel to Chattanooga this week for the 12th annual Rock/Creek StumpJump 50k, part of the Salomon Rock/Creek Trail Series. 826 of the runners are from outside Chattanooga, and about half are from outside the state of Tennessee. The largest city represented is Nashville with nearly 200 entrants.

For those who are curious, states represented include: AL, AR, AZ, CA, CO, FL, GA, IL, IN, KY, LA, MA, MD, ME, MO, MS, NC, NJ, NY, OH, OR, PA, SC, TN, TX, UT, VA, VT, WA, WI, WV, WY.

The day before the race, the public is invited to the Vendor Fair in Coolidge Park on the North Shore of Downtown Chattanooga. Vendors will have booths set up from Noon until 6pm and will be showcasing new products.

"We're excited to see competitors from all over the country as well as our friends from the outdoor industry traveling to Chattanooga for this run. This is one of the key events on our calendar, and I'm sure it will be another fantastic race," said Mark McKnight from Rock/Creek.

Tim Morgan from the Chattanooga Sports Committee estimates the economic impact of the race to be $206,500. In addition, top sponsors from the outdoor industry will gather in Chattanooga in advance of the event.
