We can’t wait to share Untamed Americas with kids and their parents,” noted National Geographic Channels' Chris Albert. “We hope the contest will prompt Rocket21 members to be more observant of the physical beauty all around them.
San Francisco, New York, Washington, D.C. (PRWEB) May 25, 2012
Rocket21, [the only social networking platform designed to safely connect kids and teens with professionals and experts representing industries, professions, passions, and movements that span the globe], joined with National Geographic Channels to announce a new Rocket21 “Dream Experience” contest, inviting youth to “Dream Big in Your Backyard”, in celebration of the new National Geographic Channel (NGC)Miniseries Event "Untamed Americas".
NGC spent more than two years in the field, traveling thousands of miles from Alaska to Patagonia, to capture the extreme wildlife of the continent for "Untamed Americas" – a new four-hour, high-definition miniseries. The series is narrated by Academy Award-nominated actor, Josh Brolin, and will premiere in the U.S. June 10-11 on National Geographic Channel, Nat Geo WILD and Nat Geo MUNDO. Now, Rocket21 and NGC invite Rocket21 youth members to showcase the beauty that is just outside their doors – in their own backyards across the continent.
From now through May 29th, Rocket21 members are invited to upload photos to Rocket21 to share the natural beauty of their own backyards and travels. Judges from NGC and Rocket21 will select the winning photo on the basis of creativity, passion, and overall effect. Judges include Geoff Daniels, EVP and General Manager of Nat Geo WILD, Karen Bass, Series Producer of Untamed Americas, and Chris Albert, SVP, Communications Worldwide & Talent Relations, National Geographic Channels.
One Grand Prize winner and their family will receive a trip to Washington, D.C. to attend the VIP red-carpet world premiere on June 5th, and to celebrate with naturalists, filmmakers, and others from the "Untamed Americas" team at an after-party at The National Zoo.
“We love the idea of encouraging kids to find beauty in their every day worlds,” said Mark Grayson, Rocket21 CEO. “Photography is a wonderful form of self-expression, and Nat Geo’s team will bring serious authenticity to the competition.”
“We are excited to see the range of photos that Rocket21 members will submit,” noted Chris Albert. “This is a wonderful way to kick off kids’ summer vacation season. We can’t wait to share Untamed Americas with kids and their parents, and hope the contest will prompt Rocket21 members to be more observant of the physical beauty all around them, whether at home or on the road this summer.”
