In this latest post, Ed and Cathy highlight the recent news from E! News Online that Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore may have reconciliation in their marriage. While Ed and Cathy acknowledged that both individuals have some deep-found troubles, they also really wanted to see the marriage work.

“It’s disheartening to us to see what seemed like a great May-December romance fall apart. Marriage between people of very different ages can be especially challenging and I think a lot of people wanted to see Ashton and Demi’s marriage work,” Ed and Cathy say.

With Ed and Cathy both aged 42, they mention that an age gap has never been a factor in their marriage. However, wanting to offer their readers tips and advice on making the age gap work, they offer up top tips from some friends who are making the decades a positive influence on their bond.

The first subject Ed and Cathy touch on is life stages. They make it clear that, in a marriage with a significant age gap, both partners will experience the same life stages at different times. Ed and Cathy’s friends felt that was an advantage, as the older partner can relate to and advise the younger partner when their turn comes.

“In a way, the older spouse can actually “mentor” the younger spouse through different stages in life. When you’re thirty, you think you have plenty of time to enjoy life later. When you’re fifty, you know that work isn’t everything and time is shorter than we think,” Ed and Cathy add.

Maintaining youth is also something their friends felt had a positive effect on their marriage. Within the blog post, Ed and Cathy write that:

“One of the wonderful things about being married to a younger man or woman is having someone so full of life and youth in your own daily life. It helps you to maintain some of your own youthful vitality, as far as the way you look at and experience life.”
