Germantown, MD (PRWEB) June 13, 2012
National Fatherhood Initiative (NFI) president Roland C. Warren will be honored at the White House today during its Champions of Change event.
The White House will recognize Warren for his leadership in the ongoing, national efforts to engage fathers in the lives of their children. According to the White House, Roland is one of the “key partners” in “helping fathers connect to their families, shaping culture, providing top-notch programming, and strengthening American families.”
Of the recognition by the White House, Warren said, “I believe every child has a hole in his or her soul in the shape of their dad. As a wounded soul myself, I do this work to ensure that fewer and fewer children will have to face the challenge of growing up without an involved, responsible, and committed father. To be recognized for working at my life’s passion is humbling and I am deeply honored.”
Warren has been president of NFI since 2001 after a nearly 20-year career in the business world with IBM, PepsiCo, and Goldman Sachs.
Since that time, Warren has driven NFI’s mission of improving the well-being of children by increasing the proportion of children that are raised with involved, responsible, and committed fathers.
Under Warren’s leadership, the organization has quickly become the nation’s #1 provider of fatherhood resources to communities, schools, prisons, hospitals, businesses, the military, and communities of faith. FatherSOURCE™, a national fatherhood resource center run by NFI, offers the most extensive assortment of specialized fatherhood resources in the world, and has distributed over 6.1 million resources since 2004.
Warren has also played a key role in helping the organization establish strategic partnerships with businesses, government, faith-based and non-profit organizations across the country. Through Roland’s vision of “meeting fathers at their points of need,” NFI has become the #1 trainer of fatherhood practitioners, having trained over 11,900 individuals from over 5,500 organizations on how to deliver fatherhood programming in their communities.
Warren is a sought-after keynote speaker and represents NFI in the national media, including appearances on The Oprah Winfrey Show, The Today Show, CNN, C-SPAN, Dateline NBC, Fox News Channel, Black Entertainment Television, and Disney Radio. He has been interviewed by major radio and newspaper outlets such as The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, The Washington Post, O magazine, Ebony, Sports Illustrated, Christianity Today, Essence, The Tavis Smiley Show, Life Style Magazine, and Family News in Focus. He also wrote a monthly column called “Pop Culture” for The Washington Times and has had articles published on CNN.com, The Washington Post, The Huffington Post, The Root, and Christianity Today. He was recently asked to do a monthly blog for The Root D.C. of The Washington Post.
Warren earned an M.B.A. from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and worked as an associate director of development for his undergraduate alma mater, Princeton University.
A native of Toledo, Ohio, Warren stays active in community and civic activities. He served on the Responsible Fatherhood and Healthy Families Task Force of the White House Office of Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships, on the Coordinating Council on Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention for the US Department of Justice, as a board member for the National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy, the Advisory Council for the Ready to Learn Partnership, and on the membership committee for the National PTA. He is currently on the board of World Vision and Christian Union.
A resident of Clarksburg, Maryland, Roland has been married to Dr.Yvette Lopez-Warren for over 30 years and has two sons, Jamin and Justin.
