What’s important to know is that SOME dealer out there is looking for your car. We help you find that dealer, so you can drive in, pick up a check, and be done with your old car painlessly.

When a car owner decides it’s time for a new car, he or she has traditionally been limited to selling it themselves or “trading in” to a dealer. The former is often perceived as potentially dangerous or at least inconvenient, while the latter often results in an unsatisfactory monetary value.

Tech startup RollSale aims to solve this dilemma with a free service for consumers that allows them to market their vehicles directly to local dealers whom can then place competitive offers to purchase their cars.

“In recent years, automotive dealers have experienced a well-documented shortage of desirable used car inventory. Many have responded by seeking alternatives to the traditional wholesale channels such as auto auctions, and RollSale makes these alternative channels a scalable and viable source of quality inventory,” says CEO Brian Moore.

Moore's co-founder, COO Mike Nichols explains that many consumers are unaware that the dealer that is selling them a car is often not interested their trade-in for their own used car lot.

“Age, make, model, color, current supply, or any other factor can turn a dealer off your car, and lack of interest invariably translates to a poor trade-in value," says Nichols. "What’s important to know is that SOME dealer out there is looking for your car. We help you find that dealer, so you can drive in, pick up a check, and be done with your old car painlessly.”

RollSale is currently in the process of launching nationwide after successful testing in the Midwest.

The RollSale network gives dealers a localized view of the cars available to them from consumers, rental car and lease fleets, and other dealers’ inventory.

The RollSale team is one of just 12 from the elite TechStars technology accelerator program in Boulder, CO this summer.

Previously, Nichols was co-founder of ControlBox.com and created products for companies like AutoTrader.com and eBay Motors while with LA startup Mota Motors; Moore was part of the team that built the infrastructure for General Motors to sustain post-bankruptcy profitability.
