Spring may bring warm weather to most of the world. At Rosalie Bay Resort on Dominica, where it’s tropical year-round, spring signals the return of some of the resort’s most famous guests – three species of endangered sea turtles.

Beginning in March, the Green, Hawksbill and giant Leatherback sea turtles travel from as far away as Canada, Europe and Africa to nest on Rosalie Bay Resort’s protected black sand beach. While there is no exact way to predict their arrival, the best chance to witness these gentle giants nesting is during the peak of the season from May through July. The tiny hatchlings then typically appear between September and October.

The eco-luxury and wellness Dominica resort, which founded the sea turtle conservation efforts on the island, ensures that these special guests are well cared for. Security guards watch over the nesting grounds and turtle sensitive landscape lighting is used to not confuse hatchlings, which rely on the moonlight to guide them out to sea.

For guests, it is an unforgettable vacation experience. They can join a turtle expert for an educational walk along the beach, stay up late to watch over the nesting turtles or be “on call” for when hatchlings emerge.

This year, guests can help save the turtles and save on their vacation. Rosalie Bay Resort has a travel offer of 33% off daily rates in all room categories through the end of turtle season on October 31, 2012. With the savings, daily rates begin at $149 for two people prior to tax and service charges. Daily rates include a healthy Continental breakfast, yoga and Pilates.

When not helping the turtles, guests can enjoy the resort’s oceanfront spa, onyx-lined pool, wellness program and organic cuisine at Zamaan Restaurant. Nearby, adventure seekers can hike rainforests, swim underneath waterfalls, go whale watching, scuba dive offshore and much more.
