Tom Rothrock To Release 'Resonator' Debut On Revamped Bong Load Custom Records Label
Producer / Composer's solo debut 'Resonator' out January 30th, 2007 on independent label known for launching international recording artist Beck.
Los Angeles, CA (Billboard Publicity Wire/PRWEB ) November 22, 2006 -- Producer and Composer Tom Rothrock will release his instrumental solo debut 'Resonator' on January 30th, 2007, on the revamped Bong Load Custom Records label, available through iTunes.
Perhaps best known as a producer, Tom Rothrock's broad discography includes releases by Beck, James Blunt, Elliott Smith, R.L. Burnside, Richard Thompson, Badly Drawn Boy, Elbow, Sloan, Toadies, Foo Fighters and the Yonder Mountain String Band, among others.
As a composer and arranger, Rothrock has made musical contributions to the scores and soundtracks of the films About A Boy, Good Will Hunting, Spy Game, Forces of Nature, The SpongeBob Squarepants Movie and Collateral.
Collateral marked the turning point in Rothrock's career to full fledged composer and solo artist, as he was sought out by lauded movie director Michael Mann to compose music for the original soundtrack of the film. It was from these nocturnal compositions and sonic architectures that the seminal ideas for 'Resonator' were born.
'Resonator' will be the first in a series of limited edition releases. The hand numbered discs will come from an original, one time pressing of 1,203 compact discs. On 'Resonator', Rothrock performs with a Regal Resonator guitar, commonly known by the brand name Dobro, and popular in the United States before World War II and the introduction of the electric guitar. Future Rothrock instrumental releases will spotlight various unique instruments.
The title track from 'Resonator' was recently aired on KCRW and selected for podcast on KCRWmusic.com as 'Today's Top Tune'.
Also scheduled for a spring release on Bong Load: another Rothrock production and performance effort featuring vocals by blues great Roman Carter of Carter Brothers fame.

About Bong Load:
Tom Rothrock originally co-founded L.A. based Bong Load Custom Records with producer Rob Schnapf and product manager Bradshaw Lambert in 1991. The trio, often credited with igniting Beck's ascent to multi-platinum superstar and award winning artist, released Beck's first commercial hit 'Loser' on a 12 inch vinyl single.
