A new NuvaRing Lawsuit Information Center from the Rottenstein Law Group will help those who believe the NuvaRing contraceptive device has injured them evaluate if they should file a NuvaRing lawsuit.
Women who were implanted with the NuvaRing birth control device were sold the idea of easy, care-free contraception. Instead, what they got was an increased risk of blood clots related to deep vein thrombosis, according to an FDA report. Blood clots can lead to severe NuvaRing side effects, such as stroke and heart attack.
In addition to outlining the next steps a NuvaRing patient needs to take to file a NuvaRing lawsuit, the site features a discussion of the device’s side effects, updates on NuvaRing lawsuits and a history of the device.
“Recipients of the NuvaRing trusted that they were getting a safe alternative to oral contraception,” said Rochelle Rottenstein, principal of the Rottenstein Law Group. “What they got instead was a risk of serious NuvaRing side effects.”
NuvaRing, manufactured by Merck, first came into the U.S. market in July 2002. The flexible, plastic ring birth control apparatus is a combined contraceptive device, which means that its slow release is a low dose of more than one hormone, in this case progestin and estrogen. That combined hormonal configuration, according to the FDA report, is responsible for the increased blood clot risk. To date, there have been more than 1,000 lawsuits filed, many consolidated into a multidistrict litigation in the United States District Court for Eastern Missouri (MDL - 1964).
