London hotels near the Royal Wedding route still have availability and generously discounted rates, says HotelMap.com

Despite press reports of London hotels taking advantage of Royal Wedding visitors with extortionate hotel rates, the reality appears quite different. With only a few days to go until the big event estimated to attract over 1,000,000 well wishers to London town, a live Royal Wedding HotelMap which connects in real-time to the reservation systems of each nearby hotel, show's that there is still availability and very attractive rates; as low as £129 for a double room with river views, at nearby 4 star hotels within a 5 minute walk of Westminster Abbey. A good deal any time of the year.

Steven Potter from LondonMarketing said “What I really like about this Royal Wedding HotelMap is that for the first time we can see availability of every room at each hotel, live, all presented on an attractive and easy to navigate map; without the limitation of viewing just the rooms available that a particular agent may have been allocated, HotelMap see's everything, and sees it in real-time.”

Two billion are expected to watch the wedding on their televisions around the world, but over one million will have the unique opportunity to line the procession route and be part of the Royal Wedding event live.

At the time of writing there were 10 hotels within a 5 minute walk of either Buckingham Palace or Westminster Abbey with availability and reasonable rates for the day of the Royal Wedding – Friday 29th April.

Royal Wedding Timings: Friday 29th April

8-10am - Main congregation arrive at Westminster Abbey
After 10am - Foreign Dignitaries and Royal Families arrive. Protocol always dictates the British Royal Family are the last to arrive
11am - Bride arrives, the service starts
12.15pm - Service ends and Carriage Processions begin
1.25pm - Balcony appearance at Buckingham Palace
1.30pm - Fly Past

Visitors who want to catch a glimpse of the royal couple in person on their wedding day should definitely stand somewhere along the procession route. The route between Buckingham Palace and Westminster Abbey goes by The Mall, Horse Guards Parade, Whitehall and the south side of Parliament Square. Any one of these landmarks or anywhere in between is a good location to choose. Arguably the best places to ensure a good view is along The Mall by Admiralty Arch and anywhere along Whitehall. The wise will also take a sturdy box to stand on for a better view. Once they're wed the couple will return to Buckingham Palace, leading the wedding party in a procession of five horse-drawn carriages - sure to be quite a sight. It is likely that space along the route will fill quickly early on the morning of 29th April. Visitor's should not worry if they fail to find a suitable spot, they can always go to Hyde Park or Trafalgar Square and watch a live broadcast of the wedding on the giant screens.
