Negative Trend For The Stock Image Industry

London, England (PRWEB) August 2, 2009

The economy is shrinking and Google Trends shows a negative pattern for the term 'stock images' (see graph). Despite these worrying signs Chris Satchwell, an entrepreneur and owner of a portfolio of online assets has updated his service Free Stock Images .net, a well established website listing and reviewing providers of stock content, with a new web design and consolidated the free services available to visitors.

New Website Design And Layout
The old outdated grey, black, green and red colour scheme has gone, to be replaced with a new fresh blue and green colour scheme. It is significantly better to look at, easier to use with a new 'smooth use' navigation bar, more SEO friendly and provides better scope for the launch of new content.

Focus Of The Design
Super simplicity is the main focus, it should be incredibly easy to use and allows visitors to find out what they want quickly and easily. The homepage and stock image providers list are the most popular pages, between them they get over quarter of a million unique visitors per year so the key focus of the design is on those two pages as they hold the content most visitors are looking for. They are the most linked to pages and the aim of the design is to push visitors to these pages.

Retirement Of Free Image Hosting Service
There are hundreds, if not thousands of companies out there providing image hosting, such as 'imageshack' and 'photobucket'. By offering unlimited uploads and harnessing the strength of the website the aim was to target the big guns and bring further depth to FreeStockImages.net.

However uploads by visitors missed targets and the increase in traffic and resulting revenue wasn't satisfactory. As a result the decision has been taken to retire the service (existing uploads remain live) and focus on our core service of reviewing stock content providers.

Retirement Of Electronic Products Store
With the many thousands of ebooks published targetted at webmasters and low overheads offering 'edownloads' looked like an obvious way to extend the range of services further. However the generic nature of the store and incredible competition meant sales missed targets by an unhealthy level.

As a result we have taken the decision to retire the service with immediate effect and focus on our core service of reviewing free stock content providers.

What The Closures Signify
Rather then being a reflection of the economy the failures are put down to the fierce competition that exists in the given markets. Rather then fight it the time is better spent building on what we do best, providing great resources for those looking for stock content such as; royalty free photographs, picture graphics, web icons, fonts to download, animations, sound clips and auto updating content.

Reasons To Be Positive - Solid Commissions
Despite the negative trend and current economic state conversions from the site have remained solid. Recently the $10,000 mark was passed for Dreamstime and sales at other stock images companies are providing resilient as well.

With the new design, further promotion and regained focus, plus the addition of more top quality content the future looks good for the free stock images website, and it's thousands of users.
