No matter how far a man may go from God, the Father is always waiting with open arms to welcome back a repentant sinner.
Gardner, MA (PRWEB) April 10, 2013
Author Russell Gary Heikkila takes readers on a spiritual journey that began with an attempt to make it big in Hollywood in his entertaining, thoughtful new memoir “From Hollywood To Calvary: One Man's Religious Journey” (published by WestBow Press).
In the 1960s, Heikkila went to Hollywood to audition for the role of Christ in the major motion picture, “The Greatest Story Ever Told.” He didn’t get the part, but the role he ended up playing turned out to be more fulfilling and meaningful than anything he could have experienced on the big screen.
After doing some serious soul-searching, Heikkila shifted his focus away from his Hollywood dreams and set out on a spiritual path that took him, he says, “from Hope Street in the Celluloid City to Mission Street in the Kingdom of God.” His life changed dramatically as he embarked on what he calls a “wilderness experience” filled with repentance, redemption and salvation, and he eventually became a well-respected minister, serving in New England churches for more than 40 years.
The resounding message of Heikkila’s book is simple: “No matter how far a man may go from God, the Father is always waiting with open arms to welcome back a repentant sinner.”
