Engineers and managers seeking Lean & Six Sigma Green and Black Belt training and certification may enroll several dynamic programs offered by the Rutgers Institute for Management and Executive Development at the Rutgers School of Business–Camden in Moorestown.
Conducted as a partnership between Lockheed Martin Corporation and the Rutgers School of Business, this internationally recognized program is a considered to be a best-in-class learning experience for individuals seeking the knowledge and skills needed to adopt and become proficient in lean process improvement techniques.
Rutgers’ Green Belt program requires five days of in-class training at Lockheed Martin’s Moorestown facility and approximately 30 hours of online, self-paced coursework. Green Belt sessions will be offered during the weeks of July 12, Aug. 9, Sept. 13, and Oct. 18.
“We recognize that healthy finances, efficient operations, collaboration, and excellence across the enterprise are key to our vision,” notes Martin Costa, director of organizational development and learning at NYU Langone Medical Center and a recent Rutgers Lean & Six Sigma Green Belt Program attendee. “Pilot projects here, and experiences with Lean & Six Sigma initiatives at other health care systems, piqued our interest.”
Rutgers will offer a comprehensive Lean & Six Sigma Black Belt training program at Lockheed Martin in Moorestown during two non-consecutive weeks (Sept. 20-24 and Oct. 11-15).
On July 21, a special program titled “Lean & Six Sigma: Executive Brief” will provide executives with a pre-cursor to Green Belt training and the benefits of adopting the methodology in their organization. The session will be held from 8:30 a.m. to noon.
"It's really an outstanding, industry-leading partnership," notes Ray Compari, associate dean and director of the Rutgers IMED. "No other Lean & Six Sigma training in the country can boast the caliber of training that Rutgers University and Lockheed Martin have created in this powerful program.
“Lean is distinguished for its wide-spread impact, savings across a variety of resources, and both short-term and long-term return on investment,” continues Compari. “Proper training and hands-on experience can assist greatly in transitioning management and employees to this way of thinking and operating.”
The program advances the skills of staff supervisors, managers, and directors in areas such as manufacturing, operations, engineering, customer service, sales, logistics, and purchasing.
Each program will be held at the Lockheed Martin Corporation training facility located in Moorestown.
