Every industry has its ups and downs
Tucson, AZ (Vocus) April 3, 2010
The Governor’s Cup Award was recently given to Elkhart County, signifying 17 major investments in 2009, reports RVBusiness.com. Elkhart County is known as home to the RV Industry. ‘Elkhart County, Ind., which remains the hub of the RV industry despite the industry downturn, was the top destination for new corporate investment in 2009 among metropolitan areas with populations less than 200,000, according to data tracked in Conway Data Inc.’s New Plant Database.’
This honor combined with an influx of interest and spending at RV shows promise a rewarding year for the RV industry after the struggles of the past few years. Beaudry RV Company is seeing a surge in spending on a personal level, and is having to hire more staff to cope with customer demands.
RV shipments in January totaled 15,800 units, more than double the number shipped in January, 2009, reports RIVA.org and GoRVing.com has invested a significant financial amount for a new campaign to reach out to potential customers. They have also completed a major overhaul of their website, complete with the new ‘Ambassadors of Affordability,’ a cute crew of animals that educate about the benefits of RVing.
“Every industry has its ups and downs,” says Scott Beaudry of Beaudry RV Company. “The difference with the RVing industry is that it has roots in American history. I can’t tell you how many customers talk about the times they went RVing as a kid. There aren’t too many industries that create memories like that.”
