In just over three weeks the 2010 Ryder Cup is set to take place in the idyllic setting of the Celtic Manor resort in Newport, South Wales. With all accommodation now taken, homeowners within the area are renting out their property for the event with figures reaching £10,000 for ten days. Tickets and accommodation for the Ryder Cup, for two people, are now estimated to be worth in the region of £5,000.
North Wales based jewellery company Clogau Gold are a proud official licensee of the 2010 Ryder Cup, and for this reason have a pair of tickets to attend the event plus a night’s accommodation. Managing Director Ben Roberts said, “We came about the tickets from the Ryder Cup organisation because of our contribution to the event. We feel they should be passed on to our customers, who have shown a lot of support for Clogau throughout the years. Unfortunately, we only have one pair of tickets so the only viable option is to open a free prize draw - giving everyone an equal chance of receiving them.”
The draw for the 2010 Ryder Cup tickets and accommodation is open to anyone. To enter, just visit http://www.clogau.co.uk and leave a few contact details. The tickets to attend the event are for Saturday 2nd October, with accommodation booked at The Kings Hotel in Newport for one night of your choice (either Friday 1st October, Saturday 2nd October or Sunday 3rd October). The winner will be announced on 27th September.
Clogau Gold has created the ‘Work. Lunch. Golf’ collection of jewellery and giftware commemorating the prestigious event. Ben went on to say, “Our jewellery is renowned worldwide as the gold worn by The British Royal Family since 1923 and as being one of the rarest golds in the world. The Ryder Cup itself has a wonderful heritage of its own and as soon as we discovered it would be held on our doorstep in Wales, it was a simple decision to get involved.”
Golfing enthusiasts will welcome the design elements within Clogau’s Ryder Cup range – ‘Work, Lunch, Golf’. The collection includes a silver and rose gold golf tee, silver and rose gold Ryder Cup cufflinks and a silver and gold Ryder Cup bangle, among others, each piece containing a touch of rare Welsh gold from Snowdonia – aptly fitting due to Wales being the host country.
The Ryder Cup, as expected, is sold out and will host the event to 40,000 spectators each day with a further 5,000 expected to be within the Newport South Wales area soaking up the atmosphere. Amazingly, in 2006, a verified viewing count of television viewers on the final day of golfing stood at 6 million viewers; this is expected once again this year.
Creating a jewellery range that marks the excitement of the Ryder Cup in such a striking and unique way, along with its ties to Wales through the use of Welsh gold, must have been a proud moment for managing director Ben Roberts.
Clogau Gold has shown loyalty not only to Wales in supporting such an event but also to their customers in offering this great opportunity, even if it is only to a single golfer and a lucky companion of their choice.
