Puppet-LogicMonitor integration adds comprehensive Cloud-based infrastructure monitoring to Puppet’s vision of software-defined infrastructure.

LogicMonitor's new Puppet Module allows users to manage monitoring through Puppet, so newly deployed machines automatically show up in LogicMonitor in the right host group with the right properties.

At this year’s PuppetConf, September 27-28 in San Francisco, LogicMonitor will demonstrate its new integration with Puppet, aimed at further advancing the company’s software-defined infrastructure vision by adding comprehensive, Cloud-based monitoring to the process.

“The Puppet-LogicMonitor integration further extends automation and speed-to-production for Puppet users,” says Teyo Tyree, Puppet Labs’ Co-Founder and VP of Business Development. “It allows our users to leverage Puppet’s configuration abilities to automatically enable monitoring for their infrastructure, which means engineers won’t have to configure or manually add their Puppet-managed machines into monitoring.”

LogicMonitor enables companies to quickly and easily monitor their entire infrastructure – networks, servers, virtualization, applications, storage, and websites – from the cloud. Puppet users will now have the ability to simultaneously automate monitoring for their infrastructure wherever it resides, whether it’s on-premise, virtual, or in the cloud.

LogicMonitor’s new Puppet Module (to be made available through Puppet Forge) allows users to manage monitoring through Puppet, so newly deployed machines automatically show up in LogicMonitor in the right host group with the right properties. This eliminates several manual steps, as well as the potential for someone to forget to add a new device to monitoring.

“We are very pleased to announce our integration with Puppet,” says LogicMonitor CEO Kevin McGibben. “The goals we share, of greater automation and ease-of-use for the end user, are highly complementary, so we’re enthused to take part in this year’s PuppetConf and look forward to sharing the integration with the Puppet community.”

PuppetConf 2012 takes place at the Mission Bay Conference Center in San Francisco. The two-day event will be sponsored by several leading technology companies including VMware, Cisco, Amazon, and Google, will feature keynotes from industry experts, breakout sessions covering a wide variety of Puppet-related topics, and a vendor expo.
