Pac West Elevator announces push to install Savaria, Hamar, and TK Access wheelchair lifts in both residential and commercial properties so that people can stay in their homes longer

With an increasing number of people transitioning into life’s later years, more and more people are looking for solutions that will enable them to stay in their homes when they become unable to walk or to get around without wheelchairs. One such solution is the installation of wheelchair lifts in residential and commercial properties. Unlike stair lifts, wheelchair lifts can be used by wheelchair and scooter users, and they transport the user and their mobility device at the same time.

The staff at Pac West Elevators Inc., in Sacramento are experts in the installation of such devices. Authorized dealers of the Savaria, Hamar, and TK Access lines of wheelchair lifts, Pac West Elevator can install lifts that extend from five feet all the way up to 18 feet. “Our goal is to ensure that people in wheelchairs can comfortably access their entire living spaces while at the same time giving them something that is affordable,” says Teri Speel, owner of Pac West Elevator, which has experience in both residential and commercial installations and recently installed a large number of devices to enable businesses to accommodate ADA access.

Pac West’s wheelchair lifts come in a variety of styles. There are multilifts, which are vertical platforms designed for low-rise travel inside and outside a home, as well as certain commercial spaces. Other lifts are built to carry a wheelchair and passenger safely up and down one or more levels.

For some homeowners, aesthetics are a factor in the choice of wheelchair lift. “Some wheelchair lifts use plexiglas doors to maintain a pleasing appearance that won’t distract from other design elements in the home,” says Speel.

Speel explains that there are two types of lifts: hydraulic and screw drive. “Hydraulic lifts are quieter and faster, “ she says, “while screw drive lifts offer convenient access for those on a smaller budget.”
