Tradewinds Sailing School and Club, featuring sailboat rentals, charters and sailing lessons, is announcing a chartering seminar by Ian Joseph on March 25, from 10 a.m. to noon. Joseph, an experienced charter-trip skipper, will present the ins and outs, and dos and do nots of chartering. Join the Tradewinds staff and ask questions to prepare for chartering around the world. The course costs $10 per person.

“Ian Joseph is a long-time chartering captain and knows all the glories, and mistakes, that a novice sailboat charter client can make,” Matt Kepner of Tradewinds Sailing School and Club said. “If we, at Tradewinds, can help our sailing friends achieve the former and avoid the latter, we know that we have provided a valuable public service. A well-run charter is one of the supreme delights of any sailor’s career.”

Even the most experienced and well-trained sailor knows that chartering a ship is not just a matter of sailing ability but knowledge of maritime law, insurance, governmental regulations and emergency-survival techniques.

Captain Ian Joseph will explain the intricacies of chartering, and answer any and all questions about sailing experiences. All types of chartering will be discussed, from chartering with a partial or a full crew to bare boat chartering.

“Take your chartering experience from the ordinary to the extraordinary with the wisdom and experience of Captain Ian Joseph,” Kepner said.
