Tradewinds Sailing School announces a monthly Friday night race series

Since Tradewinds' training focus is on cruising, we offer our members the opportunity to experience cruising with other members and experienced skippers

Richmond, CA (PRWEB) June 06, 2012

Tradewinds Sailing School and Club, a family-owned and -operated sailing school for sailing lessons in the Sacramento and Bay Area, is offering the next event in its Monthly Friday Night Race Series. The event is taking place on June 15, from 6:15 to 7:30 p.m., and can be viewed in part from Knox-Miller Park near the Ferry Dock.

The competition was opened last May with seven teams competing in the Bronze Fleet and 10 teams in the Silver Fleet. Competitors signed up for their race teams after attending the Winter Racing Clinics at Tradewinds; however, the event also allows the participation of the Tradewinds Sailing Club members.

“There will be food and drinks at the clubhouse after the races!” Matt Kepner, owner of Tradewinds Sailing School and Club, said.

In addition to the Monthly Friday Night Race Series, sailing club members can expect many different sailing events, such as Angel Island Barbeques, Poker Runs, Raft Ups and Flotillas. The sailing school also hosts social gatherings like a holiday party, a Tradewinds social and an open house, as well as highly anticipated sailing adventures.

“Since Tradewinds' training focus is on cruising, we offer our members the opportunity to experience cruising with other members and experienced skippers,” Kepner said. “Each year we pick locations that are popular, old favorites or ones that are new to all of us.”

Tradewinds Sailing School believes that going on a group cruise allows students and members to experience and learn the ins and outs of chartering a boat while honing acquired navigation and boat care skills in a practical setting. This also gives students the experience of living on-board for several days with only the provisions they brought.
