Saint Mary’s has a history of responsiveness and flexibility for the adult learner. We were one of the first universities to offer masters degrees at satellite locations and now we are bringing our quality programs anywhere in the world, Marcel Dumestre
MINNEAPOLIS, MN (PRWEB) May 02, 2012
Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota has taken a decisive step into the future of online and mobile learning by incorporating a specially designed iPad app into its online graduate programs. To celebrate the launch of this exciting initiative this month, the university has invited members of the community and students to demonstrate the features and benefits of the initiative.
During the event, Craig Pines, President and CEO of Deltak, will present Saint Mary’s University president Brother William Mann with an iPad preloaded with the app. Deltak is a pioneer in online higher education and Saint Mary’s partner in online programming and in development of the school’s new app. Marcel Dumestre, Vice President of Graduate and Professional Studies at Saint Mary’s, will also be present to answer questions. Shortly afterward Brother William will use the iPad to interact with students. The demonstration is open to all Saint Mary’s students.
- When: Monday, May 7, at 10 AM CST (Brother William begins his demonstration at 10:15 AM)
- Where: The Alumni Room on the first floor of the Park Avenue North Building on the university’s Minneapolis campus, 2304 Park Avenue.
As part of the iPad initiative, each student enrolled in the online master’s in Project Management, Organizational Leadership, and Human Resource Management at Saint Mary’s will receive an iPad preloaded with the app. The iPad app combines coursework with all the sharing, meeting and streaming abilities of social media. Students can share projects, notes, media, and ideas, and can use it to communicate instantly with teachers and classmates.
Designed for the needs of adult learners, the iPad initiative will help enhance the social, teaching, and cognitive aspects of online learning, especially the role of the instructor. It allows students to incorporate their studies into their work lives, complementing the practical, career-focused approach of Saint Mary’s online programs.
“Saint Mary’s has a history of responsiveness and flexibility for the adult learner,” said Dumestre. “We were one of the first universities to offer masters degrees at satellite locations, and now we are bringing our quality programs anywhere in the world."
