The 14th annual Saks Fifth Avenue Key To the Cure Kickoff 2012, benefiting CancerForward: The Foundation for Cancer Survivors™ , kicked off Wednesday, October 17th at Saks Fifth Avenue Houston. Honoring the 2012 Houston Forward Movers, who are civic leaders and cancer survivors, and including the presentation of the 2012 CancerForward Flash Forward Mover Award to actress & three time cancer survivor ,Tracy Nelson, the cocktail party event featured cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, live entertainment and, of course, fashion. The Key To The Cure Charity weekend continues through tomorrow, October 21st, with 2% of sales benefitting CancerForward.

Saks Fifth Avenue Key To The Cure

The 14th annual Saks Fifth Avenue Key to the Cure Kickoff event on Wednesday, October 17th, attracted over 400 hundred party-goers who came together in the spirit of fun and giving. Chairing the 2012 party are Elizabeth and Gary Petersen, Joyce and High Echols and Susan and Mike Plank. During the event, held at Saks Fifth Avenue, Houston Galleria, guests purchased the annual — and collectible — Key to The Cure T-shirt, designed this year by CancerForward supporter and acclaimed designer Carolina Herrera, still on sale with the full price ($35) going to the nonprofit. Guests enjoyed cocktails, food from restaurants including Ra Sushi, Straits, Brio Tuscan Grill, Dolce Delights and Latin Bites, as well as live jazz music performed by Julie Johnson. This kickoff event was also the start of the Saks Fifth Avenue Key to the Cure Charity Shopping Weekend, which began Wednesday, October 17th at 6:00 pm and continues through tomorrow, Sunday October 21st, from which Saks Fifth Avenue will donate 2% of all sales to CancerForward.

At the Saks Fifth Avenue Key To The Cure Kickoff event, twelve civic and business leaders, who are also diagnosed cancer survivors, were honored during the evening as CancerForward 2012 Forward Movers. Saks Fifth Avenue President, Ron Frasch, was on hand to greet stage, screen, television actress and three-time cancer survivor Tracy Nelson, who received CancerForward’s Flash Forward Mover Award. CancerForward also honored The H. Rudy Teichman Family with its first annual Anchor of Strength Award, established to shine light on caregivers, the oft-overlooked population who attend the physical, emotional, and practical needs of diagnosed survivors.
