It will be a fun and festive evening. There will be a group dance lesson, great refreshments, exciting dance performances and taxi dancers galore!

Allegro Ballroom, the Bay Area dance studio that offers ballroom dancing, salsa classes, tango classes and much more, will hold its 14th Annual Fundraiser, “Dancing for the Arts!” on May 26 from 7:30 p.m. until midnight. The event will benefit Emeryville Celebration of the Arts and its 26th annual art exhibition that will take place in October. The free, month-long exhibition, featuring the work of local artists, has become a high-profile cultural attraction in the area and relies heavily on donations for funding. A portion of funds raised will also go to Friends of Emeryville Child Development Center for needed art and music classes.

The gala event is open to the public, and beginners are welcome. Allegro Ballroom invites the community to come and support this worthwhile cause.

“It will be a fun and festive evening,” Naomi Ellis of Allegro Ballroom said. “There will be a group dance lesson, great refreshments, exciting dance performances and taxi dancers galore!”

Celebrity personality, Patrik Gallineaux, will MC the show, and the ever-popular Jeff Chandler will teach the beginning Waltz and Rumba lesson. A special lineup of taxi dancers will give everyone a chance to dance with some of Allegro’s best dancers. Silent auction items will include: a day of sailing on the Bay; a complete hearing exam and two hearing aids; private dance lessons with top instructors; and gift certificates from Bucci’s, Trader Vic’s and other local establishments. The price for general admission is only $20, and VIP reserved table seating is $50. Advance ticket holders will have a chance to win a special door prize.

“All labor, talent and food that go into producing the event are donated, and 100 percent of the proceeds go directly to the beneficiaries,” Ellis said.
