The Salvation Army in St. Petersburg Fla., was recognized for their commitment to improving the health of Pinellas County residents. Creating a healthier place to work and live gained The Salvation Army a Tobacco-Free Coalition of Pinellas County Achievement Award.
The Salvation Army is committed to providing residents, staff and guests a healthy and smoke-free environment. Through the teamwork of the Tobacco Free Coalition of Pinellas County, SWAT and the Pinellas County Health Department, The Salvation Army has resources to support their employees, residents and community.

In addition, we are providing the resources necessary to help those with tobacco and nicotine addictions. We are already seeing a positive change on our campus as a result of the smoke-free policy.”
There is much more support and community activities throughout Pinellas County that are working to prevent youth from smoking, assist smokers who want to quit, and educate parents on the dangers of secondhand smoke.
