Samsung Singapore Announces Winner of Ultra Style Search

Samsung Electronics today announced Haikal Mohamed as the winner of its Ultra Style Search competition in search of a brand ambassador for the mobile phone brand's latest Samsung Ultra TOUCH mobile phone. The 26-year-old business development manager was hand-picked by a panel of judges - comprising of fashion lecturer, indie musician and fashion label owner Ginette Chittick, lawyer-turned-chef Willin Low and Today Plus editor Phin Wong - from a total of 91 applicants.

Haikal had impressed with his easy-going manner and eloquence during a dinner with the judges at chef-owner Low's restaurant Wild Rocket along with two other finalists, 27-year-old private school teacher Quek Swee Kim and 23-year-old Singapore Management University undergraduate Lynn Ho. He wins a set of three Samsung Ultra Edition phones, including the latest Samsung Ultra TOUCH 8-megapixel camera phone, as well as a VIP pass to the upcoming Audi Fashion Festival 2009 in which Samsung is a sponsor.

"We were astounded by the quality of entries received. It is always extremely challenging to discover a person's sense of style and personality, especially by just watching a short video clip," said restaurateur Willin Low, on behalf of the judges. "But Haikal was a near unanimous judges' choice with his charming personality and good wit."

The Samsung Ultra Style Search, which took place from 27 March to 28 April 2009, garnered more than 5,200 votes from the public. Popular contestant Peggy Chang wins the People's Choice award with some 1,850 votes from the voting public, and will also walk away with a Samsung Ultra TOUCH 8-megapixel camera phone.
