The San Diego immigration lawyers at the Golden State Law Group are encouraged to see the attitudes of Americans towards immigrants turn in a positive way.

The San Diego immigration attorneys at the Golden State Law Group represent clients who encounter legal problems that relate to several different issues including visas, green card complications, status adjustments, family immigration cases, asylum, deportation defense and many others. The attorneys at the firm have recently reviewed a poll that was published by the Pew Research Center for the People & the Press regarding the general attitudes of Americans with regards to what should be done with unauthorized immigrants currently living in the United States. The firm would like to respond to the findings in that poll.

In the poll, which was published on March 28, 2013 and was entitled, “Most Say Illegal Immigrants Should Be Allowed to Stay, But Citizenship Is More Divisive,” the Pew Research group looks at the percentages of people who are living in the United States legally who believe that unauthorized immigrants should be allowed to remain in this country on a legal basis. A total of 71 percent of the people polled believe that there should be a pathway for people currently here illegally to obtain legal status to remain in the United States if certain conditions are met.
In addition, the poll found that 43 percent of respondents believe that there should be some sort of defined pathway to citizenship for the people who follow a program that is put into place by the government. 24 percent of respondents believe that people in this position should be able to earn a status as a permanent resident but they should not be able to pursue a status of citizenship.

Finally, 27 percent of respondents believe that people in this position should not be allowed to remain in the United States legally. 2 percent of respondents were unsure of how to answer. A total of 1,501 adults were interviewed for this poll.

The San Diego immigration lawyers at the Golden State Law Group are encouraged to see the attitudes of Americans towards immigrants turn in a positive way. The team would also like to encourage anyone who may be living in the United States illegally to contact an attorney who can help them resolve their outstanding issues as quickly and as thoroughly as possible.
