The 2011 Decorator Showcase is an opportunity to bring our innovative artistry to a new level and we were excited to have the opportunity to showcase our innovative reflection concept among this audience.

Jeff and Tray Schlarb, owners of Green Couch, a San Francisco interior design company, announced today that they have been selected to participate in the 2011 San Francisco Decorator Showcase.

The announcement marks the first time for the Bay Area interior design team to take part in the West Coast's premier design showhouse event, renowned for featuring the work of the region's top interior and landscape designers. Green Couch Senior Designer, Lisa Bakamis, teamed up with Jeff for the firm's inaugural Decorator's Showcase stint.

“We are thrilled to have the opportunity to share our designs alongside all these first class designers,” said Schlarb. “The 2011 Decorator Showcase is an opportunity to bring our innovative artistry to a new level and we were excited to have the opportunity to showcase our innovative reflection concept among this audience.”

Taking part in the showcase will allow the San Francisco interior decorators the chance to unveil their innovative “reflection” concept. Entitled “Two Sides to Every Story”, the team will create not one, but two bedrooms on the top floor of the Showcase home. Offering a true reflection of the firm’s style, the two adjoining rooms mirror each another in floor plan, yet will present two completely different color palates to create separate moods in each individual space.

As the wall connecting these two rooms could not be taken down, the Green Couch team of Jeff Schlarb and Lisa Bakamis decided to extend the wall in order to create a “mirror” opening that allows showcase guests to see clearly into the next room.

The juxtaposition of vibrant and serene color palates in the two rooms illustrate the impact that color can have on creating mood within a space. Identical floor plans, furniture, patterns and textures are presented juxtaposing color palettes to highlight this message and showcase the interpretation. It provides a decidedly masculine/feminine balance.

For example, the serene room will feature tone on tone whites and calming hues of creams, grays and blues through stunning pinstriped wallpaper created by Elitis against dove white mouldings and ceilings. The vibrant room will pop with reds, apricots and greens through Elitis’ Rayures pinstriped wallpaper with raisin moulding and ceilings.

A handwoven runner from Krimsa Fine Rugs & Decor by Persian Sultanabad Design in subtle ivory tones and classic textures will greet guests in the serene room, set atop Valedo Leather Tile Flooring in Bone by Merida Meridian, while a vibrant fine woven runner in orange, red and brown will rest atop the same flooring in Chocolate.

Stitch Custom Furnishings by Rachel Brurne provided upholstered & Nailheaded Cornices with Coordinating Pleated & Lined Drapery Panels from F. Schumacher & Co. in Lismore Linen Plain Natural for the serene room and Fireworks - Frosted Natural to the vibrant room. The addition of the fireworks pattern seeks to further enliven the vibrant space.

Hallman Furniture will provide Custom Design w/ polished nickel nailheads and nightstands from Bungalow 5 in white lacquer will showcase a Large Ring Table Lamp in Clear glass with a mirror chrome desk in the serene room. with a steel frame Newark Swivel Chair by Fourhands.

The same bed will be presented in a wheat color, atop a side table in spring green lacquer and a gold lamp by the same companies. The additional custom upholsteries will imbue the space with layered elegance in hues and patters to add texture. Artist Piero Spadaro, Director of Hang Art will provide artwork for both rooms.
