I think people will be excited to see what I saw
San Francisco, CA (Vocus/PRWEB) May 25, 2011
Those harboring the desire to view the diverse cultures and landscapes existing beyond the American shores should take a look through the lens of San Francisco photographer Lee Baxter. The photographer has travelled the globe-- from Mali, to Mongolia, to the Maldives-- to capture exceptional images of the world’s people, places, and cultures.
The photographs from Baxter’s January 2011 journey to Antarctica with Zegrahm Expedition Tour Company shed light on the fragile and ever-changing climate of the South Pole.
Baxter went to inconceivable lengths to photograph the Antarctic. While she could have taken in the scenery of the South Pole safely aboard the ship, the San Franciscan decided the best way to capture the climate involved a two-month on-shore exploration.
“We did wet landings, hiked and climbed glaciers,” said Baxter. “I think people will be excited to see what I saw.”
Baxter hiked the famous chartered paths of Antarctica, following the route of renowned Anglo-Irish explorer Sir Ernest Henry Shackleton. The expedition extended to the Falkland Islands and the South Georgia Islands, as Baxter wanted to photographically preserve the images of these staggeringly beautiful locales. Images from the San Francisco photographer’s southern-hemispheric tour will be available online for viewing pleasure at the end of April, 2011.
