San Francisco International Arts Festival Box Office Opens & Early Bird Tickets On Sale Today

Tickets for the 2010 San Francisco International Arts Festival (which runs from May 19-30) will go on sale TODAY, March 1st and, as is SFIAF’s tradition, 5% of single tickets for all shows will be on sale for an incredible $12 each until March 31. Tickets can be purchased from the Festival's website at http://www.sfiaf.org or over the phone at 800-838-3006. Starting April 1st single tickets will be $20 in advance and discounts are available for ticket purchases to multiple shows. Tickets are $25 at the door.

Tickets for the 2010 San Francisco International Arts Festival (which runs from May 19-30) will go on sale TODAY, March 1st and, as is SFIAF’s tradition, 5% of single tickets for all shows will be on sale for an incredible $12 each until March 31.

Tickets can be purchased through the Festival’s website at http://www.sfiaf.org or by calling 800-838-3006.

Starting April 1st single tickets will be $20 in advance and discounts are available for ticket purchases to multiple shows. Tickets are $25 at the door.

The Festival will feature more than 60 performances with performing arts ensembles from 10 countries presented by 30 arts organizations and ensembles at the Fort Mason Center and multiple other venues throughout the City.

Highlights include DEREVO from Russia, Ko Murobushi from Japan in collaboration with San Francisco’s inkBoat, the U.S. debut of A.K.Y.S. Project from France, the Calfifornia debut of Al-Khareef Theatre Troupe from Syria, the U.S. debut of Company Prototype Status from Switzerland, Frieder Weiss from Germany in collaboration with San Francisco's im'ij-re company, led by choreographer Amy Seiwert and Studio Rue Dance from the Congo.

Artists from the Bay Area include ShadowLight Productions, Voice of Roma in collaboration with Rumen Shopov & the Brass Liberation Orchestra, The Foundry, Dana Lawton Dances, Gretchen Garnett and Dancers, foolsFURY and many more.

Visual Arts
SFIAF is pleased to begin an important new relationship that will further cement the organization’s commitment to developing Fort Mason into its primary location. Running concurrently with SFIAF, after a seven year hiatus, a major international fine art fair will return to the Bay Area. The San Francisco Fine Art Fair, organized by Art Hamptons will take place at Fort Mason’s Festival Pavilion from May 20-23. The exhibit will showcase $300 million in important modern and contemporary art. Over 700 artists from 60+ world respected galleries will be on sale-the largest selection in SF. Prices range from $2k to $2 million for the paintings, works on paper, prints, photography, glass art and sculptures. SFIAF is happy and very proud to be associated with, and in proximity to, this wonderful exhibition.

The Festival's opening concert on May 19 will feature a rare Bay Area appearance by the Agatsuma Ensemble from Japan.

This Year's SFIAF Opening Concert featured the Agatsuma Ensemble from Japan

SFIAF 2010 gets under way with a world class music concert by EMI Music Japan and Domo recording artist Hiromitsu Agatsuma. The performance is the only west-coast appearance on his 2010 U.S. tour to celebrate his 10th anniversary. Agatsuma plays the Tsugaru-shamisen (a larger shamisen with thicker strings than those used for most other styles) and infuses the traditional Japanese sound with contemporary musical influences of blues, rock, dance music, folk, flamenco, and funk. He is breaking new ground with his fresh approach and giving new life to the traditional art form. Accompanying Agatsuma for the opening concert are Yoichi Nozaki on piano and Mikita Hase and Hiroyuki Okada on Wa-daiko%u2014Japanese traditional drums.
