Over 75,000 spectators are expected to attend this years 22nd Annual American Sandsculpting Championship and Beach Festival next week. A five-day, 'Invitational Masters Only' competition, the 22nd Annual American Sandsculpting Championship attracts the finest sand sculptors from around the world. People travel from all over the world to admire the whimsical masterpieces created by the 22 Master Sand Sculptors registered to compete for this year's prize money.

Over 75,000 spectators are expected on Fort Myers Beach next week to attend the 22nd Annual American Sandsculpting Championship and Beach Festival. The event, which stretches over a mile of Fort Myers sandy, white beaches is the traditional kick-off the Florida Winter tourist season.

A five-day, 'Invitational Masters Only' competition, the 22nd Annual American Sandsculpting Championship attracts the finest sand sculptors from around the world.

International Master sculptors competing in this years American Sandsculpting Championship include John Gowdy from Castelfranco, Veneto, Italy; Patricia Leguen from Saskatoon, Canada, Michel Lepire from Quebec Canada and Karen Fralich from Ontario Canada.

Top American Master Sand Sculptors include "Amazin" Walter McDonald and Lucinda "sandy feet" Wierenga from South Padre Island, Texas, Fred Mallet from Port Aransas Texas, Jeff Strong and Sue McGrew from Washington State, Randy Harvey from Centennial, Colorado, Matt Long from Staten Island New York, David O'Brien from Arlington Virginia, Steve Topazio from Tiverton Rhode Island, Bill Cichone from Bridgewater New Jersey.

The two-day Florida State Amateur Championship, held alongside the American Sandsculpting Championship, features those amateurs who competed in past events and are still working towards qualifying for acceptance into the 'Invitational Masters' level.
