BLB released their list of top sandwich eateries this week following the Sandwich Showdown, which took part in conjunction with the Food Network's New York City Wine and Food Festival mid-October, where top chefs from many of the city's best restaurants focused on comfort with their versions of classic sandwiches.
Nearly 20 stations, each housing different personalities and different restaurants, featured grilled cheese, Philly cheese steak, lobster rolls and salumi sandwich creations. Some of the chefs opted to go for a more gourmet-style sandwich, with one offering an Indian style braised beef sandwich complemented with pickled giardiniera and a tart cranberry sauce. The top sandwich at the showdown was Marble Lane's Kobe beef patty melt, which won votes with its imagination and comfort inducing flavour.
BLB listed the most delectable sandwiches as coming from Capital Grille, Salumeria Rosi, Lexington Brass, Home by the Range and of course the top-voted Marble Lane. Among the company's favourites are Salumeria Rosi and Lexington Brass, both of which offered excellent salumi options.
The New York City Wine and Food Festival is a four-day event featuring many competitions, showcases, tastings, seminars, meals and celebrity chefs. Lexington Brass is a bistro-like restaurant in Midtown New York that opened its doors just over a year ago. The restaurant is owned by EMM Group. The successful restaurant and nightlife marketing company was founded by Mark Birnbaum and three others in 2006, and currently runs several other restaurants and more than half a dozen nightclubs.
Food festivals highlight the creativity and delectable treats of the many great restaurants and eateries in New York City and the Sandwich Showdown is the perfect example of how comforting and delicious food is often a popular choice of chefs and diners alike. The list of top sandwich eateries is a great starting point to help New Yorkers and tourists decide where to eat in New York City.
