The San Francisco Chronicle will publish a special section, previewing the San Francisco Giants in the National League Championship Series against the Philadelphia Phillies. The section will appear in the print and electronic editions of The Chronicle on Saturday, Oct. 16.
The section will include a look at the starting pitchers in each game and how the matchups will affect the outcome. There also will be rosters, a photo essay, and predictions on the series. Columnist Bruce Jenkins will examine how the Giants and Phillies pitching staffs compare to some of the greats of the past with a graphic breakout on the best pitching staffs of all-time. Gwen Knapp will write about how the Giants boast an impressive core of home-grown talent.
"As Giants fans have enjoyed and endured the season of torture, the Sporting Green staff has been the trusted source to explain the team's remarkable success,'' said Chronicle Editor Ward Bushee. "Saturday's special section features behind-the-scenes looks and analysis on the series by the Chronicle's award-winning sports writers and columnists."
The section will be included in The Chronicle for all home delivery subscribers, as well as at over 12,000 single-copy vendor locations. Readers may also purchase the section as part of The Chronicle’s electronic edition, a digital replication of the newspaper. It is available through the e-edition.
