Groundbreaking Celebration for New Affordable Senior 55 Plus Housing Community, San Jacinto Villas in Rancho Mirage

The Olson Company and The City of Rancho Mirage Celebrate the groundbreaking of the newest age 55 Plus and income-restricted affordable housing community on September 10th at 3 p.m.

Members of the media and public are invited to join the City and The Olson Company as they celebrate the groundbreaking for San Jacinto Villas, the City's newest age (55+) & income-restricted affordable housing community, on September 10th at 3 p.m. The event takes place on site at 71300 Highway 111 (north of the Rancho Mirage Public library near the corner of Highway 111 and San Jacinto Drive).

The current economic times present a huge opportunity for the City to deliver high-level design and quality at extremely competitive prices. Due to the foresight and management of the Housing Authority, the residents of Rancho Mirage will be provided an award winning affordable
apartment community to benefit those in most need.

San Jacinto Villas will be a Silver LEED Certified environmentally conscious development built on roughly 8.7 acres located between Whitewater Park and the Rancho Mirage Public Library. It will be owned and operated by the City's Housing Authority and consist of 82 one and two-bedroom units ranging from 795 to 1,093 sq. ft., with 1, 1.5 and 2 baths, private 1 car enclosed garages, private patios and indoor laundry closets.. Amenities will include a ½-mile walking trail, pool, spa, recreation room, putting green, bark park and direct access to Whitewater Park.

The construction contract has been awarded to The Olson Company, dedicated to transforming carefully selected infill locations into strong lifestyle developments that compliment the local landscape. Construction is estimated to begin mid-September 2009 with completion expected in June 2011.
