Newport Beach, California (PRWEB) March 21, 2013
According to the OC Register, City Council members voted 5-0 in favor to allow medical-marijuana dispensaries to operate in Santa Ana, California. Pending a California Supreme Court decision, voters could decide whether or not dispensaries will operate in Santa Ana in a 2014 ballot initiative.
The proposed initiative, known as the Medical Cannabis Restriction and Limitation Initiative, would remove the city’s ban on dispensaries, cooperatives and collectives in place of registration process, business tax requirements and zoning restrictions. Several cities within Orange County, California currently allow dispensaries.
Randy Collins, Marijuana defense attorney, has assisted several alleged Marijuana offenders and has obtained favorable case outcomes for the majority of his clients. “Marijuana dispensaries have proven to be very effective sources of tax revenue and provide much-needed medications to those in need. What tend to get lost in the Marijuana debate are the people who use Marijuana to relieve pain. Many of those who obtain prescriptions and visit dispensaries do so out of necessity.
“If Santa Ana locals decide that they would like to allow dispensaries, we are in full support. We believe that dispensaries not only help provide patients with needed medications, but also help to decrease the illegal drug trade. We have helped countless men and women avoid jail time for marijuana-related charges. Allowing dispensaries allows those who are seeking Marijuana for legitimate reasons to do so legally and responsibly,” said attorney Collins.
Marijuana dispensaries can currently be found in Anaheim, Costa Mesa, Garden Grove, and Laguna Niguel. A number of cities have bans keeping Marijuana dispensaries from operating.
