SBBCollege is now enrolling for the Medical Assisting program at its Santa Barbara, Santa Maria and Ventura campuses. SBBC is one of the oldest learning institutions in California and its accredited Medical Assisting program can prepare students for careers in a matter of months.
Classes for the Medical Assisting program start soon and are designed to educate and train students for entry-level employment in public and private hospitals, medical offices, clinics, and insurance billing offices. SBBC students will receive hands-on experience and learn to assist with electronic health records, diagnostic tests, patient examinations, preparing instruments, and a host of other tasks.
SBBC offers a 14-month diploma program and a 23-month degree program to meet the high demand and expanding career opportunities for professionals in the healthcare field. Employment growth is projected to increase 34 percent from 2008 to 2018 according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).* The BLS notes that the increased need for skilled technicians stems from technological advances in medicine and an aging population.
“Even in a down economy, the healthcare field has continued to thrive,'' said Joslyn Buckner, Career Services Director of SBBCollege. ''What that means for the graduates is an abundance of opportunities to follow a career path that impacts people’s lives. As medical assistants, they’ll be able to make valuable contributions to an important field.”
